研究テーマ / Research topic

熱帯の対流活動変動とその中高緯度への遠隔影響。特に夏季オーストラリアモンスーンの経年変動と，その冬季東アジア・北西太平洋への遠隔影響について。また，豪雨と水蒸気輸送についての研究もあります。

興味：気候力学，テレコネクション，モンスーン，大気海洋相互作用，季節予測，豪雨，異常気象，地学教育

Variability of tropical convective activity and its remote influences on the extratropical climate. In particular, interannual variability of the Australian summer monsoon and associated teleconnection to wintertime climate over East Asia and the western North Pacific. I have also investigated heavy rainfall in western Japan and associated moisture transport.

Research interests: Climate dynamics, Teleconnection, Monsoon, Air-sea interaction, Seasonal prediction, Heavy rainfall, Extreme weather, Earth science education

名前の由来(よく聞かれるので)

秋に咲くキク科の紫色の花「紫苑」より

I was named after "Shion (紫苑) ", a kind of Aster blooming with violet flowers in autumn.

ちなみに，キリスト教の家庭で生まれ聖書にある「シオン」から名付けられたと思われがちなのですが，そうではありません。でも僕自身はカトリック信者です。ややこしいですね。あと，「せきざわ」の「ざわ」は「沢」ではなく「幸(しあわせ)」があるほうの「澤」です。
